Justice must start from within

When we are involved in social action, our key agenda is to bring justice and hope to the poor and the oppressed. Unless our values are 'just', our service to the poor will not be authentic as we would have lead and served out of who WE ARE. Out of our values and beliefs, our service to others flow. It doesn't matter how well we perform or how experienced and qualified we are. If we compromise on our values and beliefs but religiously try and achieve our tasks, I think we have missed the mark. Most importantly, justice should start at home, our immediate neighbour. Unless we act justly with our spouses, children, parents, siblings, colleagues, grandparents and our neighbours, it has little meaning in the larger world.
Practical applications for life:
1. Act justly at all levels – start at home, your immediate neighbour
2. Treat your job/ business/ ministry as an opportunity to serve others instead of an income source or a growth opportunity
3. Prioritise relationships – out of our established relationships with each other must flow the activities
